Located near the top of Morne Seychelles National Park, Venn’s Town was established in 1875 and served as a community for Africans who were previously enslaved in the Seychelles. It is also the site of the “first educational institution for children of liberated slaves.” The settlement is also recognized for its impact on the development of Creole Seychellois identity and is one of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Seychelles. The ruins consist mainly of traces of foundations of the 5 buildings which cover a total area of 540 square meters.
