- The Fred, named after King Frederik V of Denmark (also the namesake for the town of Frederiksted where the property is located) is a brand new beachfront, boutique resort & spa. It’s the only beach front resort that’s also located in town and the first new hotel to open on St. Croix since 1986. The facility began a soft opening period on 12.1.17 by releasing the first 12 of 22 rooms to hurricane relief workers as well as visitors from off-island and “STX stay-cationers” and the reviews have been FANTASTIC, including an award for “Best New Boutique Resort” by Caribbean Journal! The Gift Shop and Spa are open and The Fred expects to open it's bar, pool and finally the restaurant within the 2019 season. St. Croix is well known as the culinary island AND the most historically significant island in the Caribbean .
